BNP leader Nick Griffin to be retried

The leader of the British National Party will be tried again for seeking to incite racial hatred, a judge said today.

Nick Griffin, 46, faces a retrial at Leeds Crown Court on May 15 for two race hate charges relating to a speech he made in West Yorkshire in 2003. Mr Griffin was acquitted of similar charges, relating to two separate speeches, at a trial earlier this year but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the remaining charges. Prosecutors said they would seek a retrial.

Mark Collett, a senior member of the BNP, will appear alongside Mr Griffin to answer four charges in connection with two speeches he made. Neither Mr Collett, 24, of Rothley, Leicestershire, nor Mr Griffin, of Powys, Mid Wales, were at today's hearing. The charges arose from footage filmed by an undercover BBC reporter.

This is great news, Nick Griffin & his bunch of right wing, holocaust denying facists deserve no less. I hope the charges stick this time. I loath the hate & predudice the BNP peddle. I wish they could be banned. Free speach is precious though & should not be stiffled.
