Times Online February 17, 2006 BNP leader Nick Griffin to be retried By Times Online and PA News The leader of the British National Party will be tried again for seeking to incite racial hatred, a judge said today. Nick Griffin, 46, faces a retrial at Leeds Crown Court on May 15 for two race hate charges relating to a speech he made in West Yorkshire in 2003. Mr Griffin was acquitted of similar charges, relating to two separate speeches, at a trial earlier this year but the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the remaining charges. Prosecutors said they would seek a retrial. Mark Collett, a senior member of the BNP, will appear alongside Mr Griffin to answer four charges in connection with two speeches he made. Neither Mr Collett, 24, of Rothley, Leicestershire, nor Mr Griffin, of Powys, Mid Wales, were at today's hearing. The charges arose from footage filmed by an undercover BBC reporter.
